ABOUT
PERSEUS is a research initiative co-funded by the European Union, SERI, and UKRI, aimed at advancing renewable energy through the development of perovskite-based solar cells (PSCs). Known for their low cost, high power-to-weight ratio, and lab-scale efficiency of 27%, PSCs are a promising solar technology. PERSEUS addresses key challenges in scaling these cells from small-area prototypes to large-scale, commercially viable solar modules.
-
The goal of PERSEUS is to establish a competitive and sustainable European value chain for perovskite solar cell (PSC) technology. By bridging the gap between lab-scale innovation and industrial-scale production, the project seeks to position Europe as a leader in next-generation solar energy solutions.
-
The mission of the PERSEUS project is to accelerate the commercial adoption of perovskite-based solar cells (PSCs) by developing scalable, efficient, and cost-effective solar technologies for diverse applications. Through innovative module architectures and tailored solutions, PERSEUS aims to build a sustainable European manufacturing base and address key performance, lifetime, and cost needs across sectors such as floating, building-integrated, urban, and agricultural photovoltaics.
-
The objective of PERSEUS is to develop and demonstrate three advanced perovskite solar cell (PSC) module architectures—single-junction, semi-transparent, and 4-terminal tandem modules—adapted for industrial applications. The project aims to scale up PSC technology, improve efficiency and durability, and deliver tailored, cost-effective solutions for diverse photovoltaic sectors.
